User Guide
PDF
AT91CAP7A-STK Starter Kit User Guide (38 pages, revision A, updated 7/09)
AT91CAP7X-DK Development Kit User Guide (166 pages, revision A, updated 2/08)
The AT91CAP7X-DK development board associates three boards to be used jointly to develop AT91CAP7 processor applications. The Motherboard, Mezzanine and Memory Extension boards with the AT91CAP7 device coupled to a high-density FPGA to emulate the MP block enables hardware/software testing of the application, thus reducing design cycle time and increasing confidence in a right first time system solution.
AT91CAP9 UWB–EK Evaluation Kit User Guide (20 pages, revision A, updated 06/09)
This User Guide explains how to install, connect and configure the CAP9 UWB PHY Transmitter and Receiver Boards in order to transmit a video stream and display the received image on a video monitor. It should be read in conjunction with the AT91CAP9A-DK Development Kit User Guide.
AT91CAP9-STK Starter Kit User Guide (64 pages, revision B, updated 6/08)
AT91CAP9A-DK Development Kit User Guide (180 pages, revision B, updated 07/07)
The AT91CAP9A-DK development board associates three boards to be used jointly to develop AT91CAP9 processor applications. The Motherboard, Mezzanine and Memory Extension boards with the AT91CAP9 device coupled to a high-density FPGA to emulate the MP block enables hardware/software testing of the application, thus reducing design cycle time and increasing confidence in a right first time system solution.

A Customizable Microcontroller as a Tradeoff between Microcontroller, DSP, FPGA, ASIC Technologies (8 pages, revision A, updated 9/09)
This White Paper reviews the relative strengths and weaknesses of microcontroller (MCU), digital signal processor (DSP), field programmable gate array(FPGA) and application-specific integrated circuit (ASIC) technologies for embedded applications, and proposes a customizable microcontroller as a cost-, performance- and power effective tradeoff between them.
Efficient System-on-Chip Development using Atmel’s CAP Customizable Microcontroller (25 pages, revision B, updated 4/08)
Considerations of cost, size and power consumption require that many electronic applications are built around a System-on-Chip (SoC) that integrates most or all of the functionality of the application onto a single integrated circuit. However, the complexity of these devices makes them increasingly difficult to develop and validate economically in a timescale that meets the time-to-market pressures of the application. SoCs incorporate programmable elements (notably microcontrollers) that make their software content at least as expensive and time-consuming to develop as their hardware. Using Atmel’s CAP customizable microcontroller (MCU) based on the industry-standard ARM® processor with on-chip memories and industry-standard interfaces, and incorporating a metal programmable block (MP Block) for additional processor(s), application-specific logic and non-standard interfaces, represents a practical approach to SoC development that addresses all these issues.
Virtualization with the TRANGO Hypervisor for the Atmel AT91CAP (20 pages, revision A, updated 8/08)
This document considers manufacturers of boards and systems who have invested heavily in their own custom design of peripherals and drivers that work in conjunction with a safety critical proprietary application, and intend to integrate a full-featured operating system, graphical user interface or other high-level software modules into their final design. In the process of migrating to newer hardware, the ability to reuse existing hardware and software IP is a major requirement.
