Atmel's High Performance Secure Microcontroller Awarded Common Criteria EAL4+ Certification ARM SC100-based Product Ensures Highly Secure Digital Transactions Rousset, France, January 28, 2009 …Atmel® Corporation (Nasdaq: ATML), is proud to announce that its AT91SC464384RCU secure microcontroller has been granted Common Criteria certification EAL4+. This vulnerability assessment corresponds to today's highest proven resistance against any security attack (AVA_VLA4). This chip has already received EMVCo approval in May 2008. The combination of these two certificates ensures highly secure digital transaction applications based on Telecom platform. Based on the ARM® SecurCore™ SC100, The AT91SC product family targets Mobile Payment, Mobile TV and Multimedia applications. The AT91SC464384RCU features an outstanding on-chip compact ROM program memory of 464K Bytes, a flexible 384K Bytes EEPROM for data, and 18K Bytes of RAM. It offers an impressive set of proven security features, security mechanisms, and cryptographic functions. Communication interfaces are ISO7816 and Single Wire Protocol to target Mobile Payment and Mobile TV applications. "The two awards, the EMVCo and the Common Criteria EAL4+ Certifications, enhances Atmel's leadership in the secure microcontroller market and proves that convergence of the wireless, internet, contactless and TV broadcasting worlds is already achieved," commented Laurent Sustek, Atmel's Technical Marketing Manager for Advanced Telecoms.
