Customer Specific ICs - Emulation Platforms
Atmel's microcontroller-based ASIC emulation platforms use one of Atmel's standard products for the microcontroller core, peripherals and standard interfaces, and discrete components for the memories and analog, together with a high-density FPGA for the application-specific digital logic. This enables the platform to be rapidly configured to have the precise behavior of the ASIC under development.
The emulation board plugs into a PC that runs industry-standard software development and hardware debug tools. It runs the application software at close to operational speed, testing and debugging the entire system before committing the hardware to silicon. This increases the chances of right-first-time silicon and application software, saving time and money for the application developer.
